An undated photograph of the Lakeside Pavilion. The property abutted the northern end of the Lakeside station and could be accessed via Station Road, just before Rutter Road. It was owned by George Kuhnert. Mr Kuhnert’s granddaughter, Marlene Pooley, said she was born in the house and had fond memories of growing up there. At some stage, she said, the house had been painted pink, and no matter how many coats of pink paint her father had applied, the words “Lakeside Pavilion boats for hire” would always reappear on the wall. The lake in front of the house has since been filled in, and the area where it once stood has been built up. Picture: Fish Hoek Valley Museum.
