Fish Hoek Beach was a hive of activity on Sunday September 1 as residents and visitors celebrated the arrival of spring at the annual Spring Splash.
For the past 25 years, The Galley owners, Herbie and Mathea Eichel, have hosted the annual event, the highlight of which is a dash into the ocean.
“This is what Fish Hoek is all about. We’re lucky to have some sunshine today,” said Marie Sudlow, a local who was enjoying the day with a friend.
Youngsters participated in line dancing, a sand castle competition, a treasure hunt and a talent show.
The sandcastles were judged by the Rotary Club Cape of Good Hope president Owen Govender and the prizes were sponsored by The Galley.
While the wind picked up later in the day, this did not deter members of the Sunrise Swimmers and other brave souls from taking a dip.
