Mr De Jager’s house was caught in the middle of the fire that broke out below Echo Road on Sunday.

I want to publicly commend our firefighters for their excellent work extinguishing the fires, which took out the middle tier of properties on Simon’s Town Road, destroying my neighbour’s house.
My house was saved in the nick of time thanks to the quick planning and response from the firefighters.
They attacked the fires from all directions all at once with my house and wood cabin right at the centre of all this. Well done to them. Thanks
