The women's softball team from Messiah University in Pennsylvania, United States of America, has been active since arriving in the Mother City.

The team, under the guidance of coach Amy Weaver, has partnered with NGO Beyond Sports and Cape Town Softball Federation to conduct coaching clinics.

Weaver said her team’s visit to Cape Town is twofold. “Its an educational tour for our students who are going to visit various iconic tourist attractions such as Robben Island and the District Six Museum.

“All our fourth year students get a chance to choose a country to visit and this year they choose to visit Cape Town. We have also conducted coaching clinics at Turfhall Park where we also played against local senior teams,” said Weaver.

The team will later this week visit the Aquila Private Game Reserve near Touwsrivier and will on their return conduct clinics at Boland Park in Worcester.
