Young cyclists from Ocean View, including Fresh Start Cycling Club’s Kendal Olivier and Caden Robyn, as well as former club member Noah September, impressed at recent national competitions.

Star performer Kendal won two gold medals and a bronze medal at the 2025 SA Youth Road Cycling, Criterium, and Time Trial Championships, in Oudtshoorn, earlier this month.  She competed in the under-13 division, winning gold for the Criterium and time trial, and bronze for the road race. Her teammate Caden took part in the under-11 section, winning a silver medal for the road race and a bronze medal for the Criterium and time trial.

The event, hosted by Eden Cycling, featured a series of races including the individual time trial, road race, and criterium for various youth categories. Noah September, who now rides under the banner of Dsv Shift Academy, and teammate Faraaz Khatied finished in second and third place, respectively, behind Gauteng’s Erik Breedt, in the Eastern Cape Grand Prix, a fortnight ago. He also took part in the SA Omnium Track Championships in Port Elizabeth. Racing was hard, and competition was tough, but he managed to secure third place on the podium.

Fresh Start Cycling Club's Kendal Olivier, from Ocean View, brought home two gold medals from the SA Youth Championships, in Oudtshoorn.
