Following the disappointment of a last-minute fight cancellation in what was to be her second outing in the professional ranks, Saarah Karriem was back in action at Fight Island in Cabo Beach, Waterfront.

The Ottery-based fighter was originally scheduled to compete at a Golden Gloves event on Women’s Day, but her opponent pulled out just a day before the fight.

It's water under the bridge, as unfortunate as that may be, and it is one of those realities of boxing, something beyond the fighter’s control. Returning to the seaside venue where she made her debut earlier this year was a sweet moment for the featherweight boxer.

Karriem faced a challenging four-round contest against Milicent Nemutandani. Her opponent maintained steady forward pressure, but Karriem landed the more significant blows, ultimately securing a well-deserved decision win.

The performance showcased her composure and sharpness, proving that the brief setback from the previous cancellation had not affected her focus or drive.

On the subject of out-of-control fight issues, Josh Cloete was the latest to fall victim to a last-minute cancellation.

Josh Cloete jr had to settle for an exhibition fight against sparring partner Rais Hoosain after the cancellation of his fight.

The former kickboxing youth champion, who has fully transitioned to boxing, was eager to demonstrate that he is not merely switching sports but is ready to deliver non-stop action in the ring.

Unfortunately, his opponent pulled out before weigh-ins, forcing Cloete to settle for an exhibition bout instead against Rais Hoosain.

Cloete has been in impressive form since turning professional, winning four fights and drawing one. He had promised fans he would notch the fourth knockout of his career during this event before circumstances beyond his control intervened.
