Joshua Myburgh
Joshua Myburgh, from Muizenberg, a Reef Team Surf Rider and a matric pupil at SACS High School, finished in second place at last week’s SA Junior Surfing Championships, in Jeffrey’s Bay.
The best junior surfers from all over South Africa gathered for the five-day event showcasing their skills and talent in the under-12, under-14, under-16 and under-18 boys’ and girls’ divisions.
Joshua, riding a DVG surfboard, had a very convincing win in Round 1 on the first day and went straight to Round 3 where he won the heat to qualify for quarter finals. Winning his quarter final heat he went through to the semi-finals and finals on the last day of the event, surfing his way to a silver medal in the finals with flair, determination and a variety of manoeuvres.
Team Western Province also received an overall second position.
