It’s crazy to think that the current English Premier League top scorer could be plying his trade elsewhere next season, but that’s exactly the limbo Liverpool have created by not letting star striker Mohamed Salah know where he stands.
Salah’s contract comes to an end this season and he has repeatedly, and uncharacteristically made a number of cryptic comments on the matter in public.
The forward has scored 18 league goals this season to top the scoring charts, and at 32 he has attracted interest from Paris-Saint Germain according to reports.
The Egyptian speedster has 233 goals for Liverpool since he joined the club in 2017, and ranks fourth in the all-time scoring list for his side.
Salah was again on the scoresheet in Liverpool’s 2-1 Uefa Champions League victory over LOSC at Anfield on Tuesday evening.
The Egyptian equalled Thierry Henry’s Champions League record of 51 goals in the competition.
After the match, Salah was asked about the significance of the milestone on Amazon Prime: “Hopefully not the last one but I'm very proud of it. I wasn't focused on it before the game.”
Asked if he aimed to increase his tally in the competition for Liverpool, Salah said: “I'm not sure about that but I'll give it my best.”
Last week, Former Reds striker Emile Heskey implored Liverpool to offer club legend Salah a new contract.
Heskey pointed to the astounding consistency of Salah while at Liverpool which has seen the player score every 1.6 games. The 47-year-old Heskey went on to say that Liverpool could never replace Salah.
