Following a successful 2024, it is safe to say that PADEL4GOOD has established itself as a popular brand in the Western Cape, and it plans to expand even further in 2025.
Heading into its third year since inception, the sporting charity will break new ground this month kicking off its 2025 season on February 28th at the Racket and Ball Club in Bree Street.
After hosting 23 shows in Paarden Eiland, Padel4Good has done well spreading the gospel of the fast-paced game that combines tennis, squash, and racquetball.
Most importantly, the sport has played a big role in the fight against femicide and abuse against women and children as all proceeds (ticket sales and sponsorships from Padel4Good events) go to homes and organisations in need.
Padel4Good now aims to do even more for the greater community by taking the show on the road, and its first stop is the Racket and Ball Club, a fairly new but very popular location for this sport.
“This is the best venue for Padel in South Africa,” says Racket and Ball’s manager Matthew Neethling.
“From the courts to the food at our Shott Cafe, everything fits perfectly. You have everything under one roof for players."
After opening in December 2023, Racket and Ball has quickly established itself as a prime spot for Padel enthusiasts with a healthy community of up to 3000 players monthly.
“And building,” adds Neethling.
“Every day is busy and we don’t have off-peak time, we are blessed with the clientele we have. We have not had any major tournaments yet, however, we are hosting the Aston Martin R275 000 cash tournament sponsored by PokerBet in March,” says Neethling.
Padel4Good’s Kathleen Barker and Neethling have confirmed that the two brands will work together to build a sport that is still very much in its infancy stage, in terms of governance and structure.
“Yes, we will be hosting more Padel4Good events in the future. We are so happy to be a part of such a great organization. We are extremely excited to be involved with Padel4Good. The brand has done so much for the community. I encourage more people to get involved,” added Neethling.
This month’s event will be a 16-team (32 players) men’s tournament for players rated between levels 2 and 5 on the PlayTomic App. Players may enter individually or as a team, and there are limited spots left. Entry per player costs R800, and the event kicks off at 6 p.m.
