Politician surrenders to the Hawks over allegations of theft and money laundering

A suspect, who is a politician, handed himself over to the Hawks today for his alleged involvement in theft and money laundering. 

This follows an ongoing investigation by the Bellville based Hawks' Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team.            

"It was alleged that Jadoo and Associates submitted a claim on the estate of the late Mr JMJ Steyn amounting to R3 957 612.45, which was paid into the estate bank account of JMJ Steyn," said Lieutenant-Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi from the Hawks. 

"Keshika Naidoo of Jadoo and Associates had control over the estate account of Mr JMJ Steyn. Investigation revealed that there were further payments made from the estate of the deceased, Mr JMJ Steyn, to Jadoo and Associates and other business entities."

Vukubi said investigation revealed that Naidoo, who is accused one in this matter, was linked to fraud, to the potential loss of about R3.9 million.

"The Hawks have since arrested Keshika Naidoo in October 2024 and she is currently out on bail of R50 000 and will appear in court on April 1

"Further investigation revealed that Hladi Logistics, whose director is Wandile Hlongwana, also received payments to the amount of R3 364 530 from the estate of the deceased's bank account. 

"Wandile Hlongwana, who is accused two, was arrested on January 16, 2025, and is currently in custody and will appear in court April 1, 2025. Investigation revealed that the proceeds of crime were paid into the bank accounts of the accused persons.

"Accused 3, Zanele Dlamini, appeared in transit in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on February 24, 2025, and thereafter will appear at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on February 28, 2025, alongside her co-accused, who has handed himself over to the Hawks in relation to R510 000 that was paid into his business account."
