Table Mountain’s hiking trails are now safer, thanks to the newly launched Cobras Mountain Protection Team.
For the past two months, the dedicated security guards have actively patrolled routes around Lion’s Head, Signal Hill, and Camps Bay.
This privately funded initiative, developed in partnership with City Bowl and Atlantic Seaboard businesses and private individuals, is dedicated to ensuring the safety of hikers.
Their efforts have proven effective, with no violent crime incidents reported on the routes they cover, indicating that their presence is a deterrent to potential criminals.
The increased security has also led to a noticeable rise in foot traffic on these popular trails. This surge in hiking reflects renewed public confidence and positively impacts the local neighbourhoods.

In addition to patrolling Lion’s Head, Signal Hill, and Camps Bay, the Cobras Mountain Protection Team also enhances the general safety on Table Mountain.
